In what was a hotly contested junior classification event Mayo Academy Players showed their skills as they romped to victory in 6 of the 8 age categories on offer.
In the under 10 Boys event Thomas Joyce showed why he was the Number 1 seed as he captured the title for the third time in a row, to cement his place as the top under 10 in connaught. Thomas still has two more season,s in the under 10s and is going to be hard to beat as he is developing all the time.
Marie Williams played outstandingly in the under 12 girls also winning all three junior classifications this season and showing why she was seeded number one
The under 12 boys was won by Eddie Ditchburn who started the event as the number 1 seed Eddie played sublime table tennis and reached the final were he met the number two seed. Eddie showed why he was number 1 as he won the final by a score of 3-1.
Marie Williams was also in top form in the under 14 girls. where she romped to victory over the number 2 seed.
In the under 14 boys it was dominated by Mayo Academy Players with Matin-Edward Ditchburn contesting the final with Academy clubmate Brian Dunleavy. In what was a thrilling match Brian came out on top.With Martin Williams taking third place.
The Academy had no under 17 girls so it was down to the lads to try and take honours. And it proved to be the case.
The final was another all Mayo Academy affair with James Joyce and Daragh Egan contesting the final. This was James,s first final and he kept his nerve in a thrilling match, to clinch his first title.
